$1000 Ryzen 5 3600, RX 5700XT Gaming PC Build Guide 2020

In this build guide, JJ walks through the components you will need to build an entry gaming PC that looks good, is stable and reliable, fully compatible, and has some solid gaming chops for 1080P PC gaming. The build is centered around TUF Gaming hardware, including a B550 motherboard and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super graphics card. For the CPU, we have gone with AMD’s Ryzen 3000 series CPU, specifically the Ryzen 5 3600. The only items missing that you need beyond those listed would include a license for Windows, a monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse.

In this build, compared to our entry build, you step up from a B450 chipset motherboard to B550. This chipset offers several upgrades, including support for PCIe Gen 4 and confirmed support for next-gen Ryzen CPUs. Furthermore, the motherboard provides updates in connectivity with onboard WiFi6 as well as 2.5Gbps Ethernet. Both of these high-speed network connections also benefit from TUF GAMING TurboLAN software, which lets you quickly prioritize your games over other applications or services you may be running. There are also improvements to the TUF GAMING isolated audio design with a higher grade audio codec, the ALC1200. This gives you better audio in music, videos, and games. It is also paired with our new AiNoise canceling software, which works with analog and digital microphones. Last but not least, you have multiple RGB headers and overall more connectivity for your devices with more high-speed USB ports.

Compared to our mid-range build, this build features a much higher performing graphics card in the form of the RX5700XT. This is a great card for those looking for high refresh gaming performance at 1080P as well as solid FPS performance when gaming at 1440P. The TUF GAMING graphics card design yields cool and quiet operation thanks to a static pressure optimized triple fan design, and large heatsink assembly. Furthermore, this new version offers 0dB operating mode to allow for ultra-quiet operation when running low GPU load tasks like browsing, email, video playback, and much more.

For this build, we have also moved on up from mATX to ATX. We have selected the ATX TUF GAMING GT301. This chassis provides much more room for a visual aesthetic as well as flexibility, and it’s the ability to accommodate upgrades. It also comes with three (3) RGB fans helping to add some lighting flair to your build while also improving intake airflow.

Should you want a better CPU Cooler our basic recommendations are noted below – For most users the stock cooler supplied with CPU is adequate and will provide stable operation.
