Comparing RTX 3080 Stability, Temps and Overclocking (SP-CAP/POSCAP vs MLCC)
I have been intending to test my 3rd party RTX 3080 graphics cards from ASUS, Zotac and Gigabyte, but now I have a new mission: see if I can replicate the instability some buyers are experiencing at higher clock speeds above 2000MHz. How much does the use of all SP-CAP capacitors (POSCAP has also been used to describe these, which is a branded version from Panasonic) vs swapping in some of the MLCC variety affect behavior for cards that used that configuration for the power delivery array behind the GPU? Do RTX 3080 cards simply not run well above 2GHz? I did some live gameplay testing to find out.
