Google’s new Chromecast review: a solid streaming solution & perfect for YouTube fans

Google’s Chromecast was revolutionary when it first launched, a small device that let you easily stream video to your TV from an Android phone, and for less than $50. But as smart TV’s have gotten better, and solutions like Fire TV and Roku have improved as well as getting cheaper, Chromecast has been a harder sell.

Google’s new model moves on from phone-based streaming into a full streaming device. Sure, you can still cast a screen with a click, but the chromecast also supports pretty much every major service itself, including HBO Max (though Apple TV is notably absent). Blending Google’s generally excellent voice Assistant, and with tight integration with YouTube TV for live shows, and YouTube Music, the new Chromecast is a compelling choice if you’re in the market for a streaming stick.
