As per several critics, the Lenovo Tab 2 A8 seems “outdated”, and its specs and chunky design would have made an impression if it was released in 2013. However, not every tab user demands the greatest or latest device, and this means Tab 2 A8 is a good choice for those tolerant of dated tech. In terms of design, the device appears as a budget tablet, specifically because it features an 8-inch slate, and is heavy and girthy. And in an age when companies strive to deliver the lightest and thinnest tablets, the Tab 2 A8’s design may seem unimpressive.
The device runs on Android Lollipop 5.0 and has a useful app tray that will allow you to arrange your apps in a single location. In terms of hardware, it has 1.3 GHz quad-core CPU, 16 GB internal storage, and 1 GB RAM. Using the microSD card slot, you can add to the internal storage by up to 32 GB.
In terms of performance, the tablet does just fine. This means you can stream videos, check social media and email without any trouble. Though not fast, it performs smoothly but slows quite significantly with heavy tasks, for instance photo editing. It offers a 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution, which can also be deemed passé. Additionally, the separation between screen and display seems out-of-date and contributes to the dull brightness and lackluster color saturation of the screen. But credit should be given to the manufacturers as HD videos appear sharp.
The Tab 2 A8 features a 5-megapixel back and 2-megapixel front camera, both of which are far from perfect and capture “washed-out” images with dull colors. Moreover, the picture quality is grainy, especially when you take pics in low-light situations. The device has an 8-hour battery life, which may be decent, but is still far from perfect.
