Nvidia’s last generation of cards, like the 2080 and 2080 ti, were undeniably fast, but their promise to deliver high-performance real-time ray traced graphics always felt unfulfilled.
While the cards were undeniably powerful and innovative, they struggled to produce high frame-rates, especially at 4K resolution. The new 3080 feels like the fulfillment of what Nvidia intended, a super powerful card that can deliver great frame-rates, and ray tracing at high resolution. Add in an innovative cooler design and a high-but-not-crazy price of $699, and you’ve got a seriously impressive GPU.
